DeviceWall Promotion |
|
|
|
Don't forget.....there is a promotion
running for DeviceWall until the 28th of March 2008. The promotion is
open to both public and private sector organisations and includes a 20%
discount off the licence cost.
DeviceWall has received SC Magazine’s top honour in the February 2008
group test of ‘Portable Device Security’ solutions.
DeviceWall swept the board with five-star ratings for Features,
Ease of Use, Performance, Documentation, Support and Value for Money.
Please find the review attached.
As you are probably aware, the media is full of stories of high profile
data loss incidents. The threat from portable storage devices is
something that organisations are starting to take very seriously.

NetSupport Manager - "Best of the Tests" |
|
|
|
NetSupport Manager remote control software has
received the Network World "Best of the Tests" award for 2008.
"Out of the nine remote-control products tested, NetSupport Manager
rated best for console display. Particularly well done is the thumbnail
view that shows as many remote clients as needed at once. The product
also performed well over slower internet links and a local network
(performance was so high, you could easily forget which machine was your
real computer and which was running through the NetSupport connection).
Also noteworthy was scripting and log support, extensive enough to make
the product a major player in the overall computer management market."
Network World tested more than 170 products across a very wide range of
technologies to select the "2008 Best of the Tests" winners. Network
World's Lab Alliance and testing editors rigorously evaluate products
based on the critical network functions they address, and awards are
based on those products receiving the highest scores.

|
|
We are pleased to announce the launch of
License Manager 2.1, the latest version of the SAM and license
management solution from Centennial Software. License Manager 2.1
includes a number of enhancements designed to help you manage all types
of desktop software licensing and ensure your organisation stays in
control of compliance and spending. License Manager 2.1 features
include:
• Enhanced support for ‘Version Maintenance’ licensing schemes such as
Microsoft Software Assurance
• Notional license allocation to 'Operational Units'
• Singe-screen vendor compliance reports
• Excel exports for software and license usage reports
As part of the License Manager 2.1 development plan, Centennial have
also significantly enhanced the unique online software database to
support more software vendors and titles.
New Customer Benefits - For Discovery customers that have not yet
purchased License Manager or SAM.Suite (the combined bundle of
Centennial Discovery and License Manager), the new version presents the
most compelling reason yet to make a start in SAM. Out of the box,
SAM.Suite delivers more benefit and helps organisations get started with
the minimum of manual overhead.
Existing Customer Benefits - For existing SAM.Suite customers, upgrading
to License Manager 2.1 means better software recognition, more
flexibility in licensing conditions and faster compliance reporting. All
good reasons to take advantage of the latest software!
Existing customers with a current support and maintenance contract can

Removing Unwanted Software |
|
|
|
There are various software applications that
simply do not belong in a corporate environment - from spyware
applications to programs that download music, weather applications, and
so on. Users download, install, and use these applications without your
knowledge. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get rid of these unwanted
applications? Ideally, you want to take a proactive approach to managing
unwanted software - the moment one of these applications is detected on
your network, it gets uninstalled. With Prism Deploy it is easy to find
and remove unwanted software automatically.
Whether you need to rollout a complex application suite, delete some
troublesome software, install a new printer, new desktop shortcut, or
change user permissions on a registry key or file, Prism Deploy can
package and deploy those changes quickly and easily. Prism Deploy also
supports the implementation of ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)
processes.

web site.

Policy Commander or MS Group Policy? |
|
|
|
When it comes to network
security building a network
perimeter just isn’t enough any more. You also need to
proactively maintain secure configurations, and demonstrate
ongoing compliance to management and auditors.
You can use Group Policy to configure security settings such as user
rights, password policies, file and registry access control lists,
wireless network configurations and more.
What does Policy Commander do that I can not already do with MS Group
Policy?
Policy Commander allows administrators to target specific computers or
groups of computers based on their role, operating system and security
level, while Group Policy is much less granular in its targeting
capabilities. Group Policy requires the managed server and workstation
to be authenticated to the network while Policy Commander can
continuously monitor and enforce policies even when systems are offline.
Group Policy does not manage complex security policies, such as those
requiring conditional assessments. In addition, Policy Commander also:
* Provides a graphical, high-level summary view of policy compliance.
* Automates alerts and notifications in cases of non-compliance.
* Delivers continuous security policy enforcement.
* Provides intuitive reports on computer and policy compliance status.
Policy Commander streamlines security policy deployment and creates
self-correcting security configurations for every Windows system in the
organisation. For further information please visit:
