Northern Storage Suite is a suite of
five components. Each component is engineered to offer complete
resolution to one of the five major functions of Storage Resource
Management. Northern Storage Suite regulates the provision of storage;
it reports on your storage status, delegates responsibility for clean
up, tunes resource performance and provides financial incentives for
efficient storage use.
Ensure flexibility
The suite facilitates smooth migration and easy scalability - unlike
competitive offerings, which offer an array of add-on modules and
confusing pricing schemes, users can now simply turn on features as
needed in response to changes in their storage environment.
Licensing
Northern Storage Suite is licensed per host and by capacity. A host is
defined as any traditional Server, NAS or SAN device - essentially any
physical device that meets the minimum requirements for the solution.
Capacity requirements per host are determined by the total capacity of
that host, the sum of all volumes on the host.
Cluster and site licenses are available as well as educational,
governmental and volume discounts.

Each component of Northern Storage Suite focuses on reducing the
administrative costs associated with storage provision and consumption.
Some of the ways in which this is achieved are as follows:
