Comment:
Implementing Storage Policies cannot only help you by restricting usage
on disks, but you can also benefit from different kinds of alerts and
alarms, you can for instance make sure that you're always warned when a
disk is growing dangerously close to full.

particular user had a total of 1 media files in her home folder.
Comment: Using Storage Policies, you can block certain files types
(or groups of file types) from being saved. You might, for instance,
want to restrict the use of media files like films, music, or photos,
etc.
* Media Files = files with the file extension mp3, mpg, mpeg or avi.

Recommendation: You should start by implementing 'soft' quotas
using threshold-driven e-mail messages to educate the users on storage
economy and on how to save space. When the initial Storage Policies have
settled in you can expand by implementing file blocking policies,
policy-based clean-up jobs or a storage portal on the web, which helps
users to save space.

According to respected analysts, the real cost for managing storage,
including tasks such as backup/restore operations, inventory operations,
configuration, maintenance work, etc is 3.3 times the cost of acquiring
the storage hardware.

The cost justification calculation above is of course a rough estimation
- an example of what Quota Server can earn back to your storage
resources for the server you scanned. Generally, the cost of acquiring a
SRM software is justified much quicker since it drastically slashes both
the long-term and short-term management costs.
I want more details on how to make a more careful ROI calculation.
